Dita Karang Boosts Indonesia’s Popularity in South Korea

PERSONNEL of the K-Pop idol group Secret Number, Dita Karang, has succeeded in boosting Indonesia’s popularity in South Korea. This was conveyed by the Deputy Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Park Soo-deok.

Park Soo-deok said that South Korean citizens’ interest in Indonesia had increased. One factor is the presence of Dita Karang, who has a career in South Korea with Secret Number.

“In Korea, interest in Indonesia has also increased thanks to the popularity of Dita (a member of the girl group Secret Number) and the Indonesian volleyball player, Megawati,” said Park Soo-deok at Korea 360 Lotte Mall, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Monday (23/9) .

The singer, whose full name is Anak Agung Ayu Puspa Aditya Karang, has been working in South Korea since 2020. He joined the K-pop group Secret Number under the Vine Entertainment agency.

This woman from Bali grew up in Yogyakarta and has dreamed of becoming a K-pop idol since school.

To pursue her dream, Dita Karang underwent a training period at the Born Star Training Center in New York, United States, and joined a well-known dance community in South Korea, namely 1MILLION Dance Studio.

Apart from that, Park Soo-deok also said that there is high interest in the spread of Korean or Hallyu culture in Indonesia. For example, such as music concerts and fan meetings which have successfully received appreciation from the Indonesian people.

“On the other hand, interest in Hallyu is very high in Indonesia. Concerts and fan meeting events for K-pop artists always get the love of the Indonesian people and reap success,” said Park Soo-deok.

Therefore, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Indonesia together with public agencies and Korean companies are working together to hold a Korean cultural festival entitled K-Festival 2024.

K-Festival 2024 holds various events such as performances, exhibitions, films, tourism, Korean food, and Korean language and literature which will be held on 23 September-24 November 2024, in 5 cities, namely Jakarta, Bandung, Palembang, Medan and Balikpapan .

Park Soo-deok hopes that K-Festival can become a forum for the people of Indonesia and South Korea to understand each other’s culture. K-Festival is also said to be a two-way cultural exchange between Korea and Indonesia.

“We also hope that this festival can become a forum for Indonesian and Korean people to understand each other’s culture through two-way cultural exchanges, one of which is through the Korea-Indonesia Film Festival,” concluded Park Soo-deok. (Z-1)
