Iga Świątek is already in Riyadh, waiting for the start of the season-ending WTA Finals tournament. The Pole will defend the title won last year in Cancun, Mexico. She showed up for the group draw on Tuesday. This time she chose a modest, yet elegant styling. It was then that she met her opponents in the group stage: Barbora Krejcikova, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula. While waiting for the first match, training takes place in the hall that is the arena of the competition. One of them, involving Świątek, gives a lot to think about.

Świątek is completely helpless. Bomb after bomb. The video gives you chills
On Thursday, journalist Bartosz Ignacik published a recording online in which we can see Świątek hitting the ball together with the leader of the world ranking, Aryna Sabalenka. The training took place in a pleasant atmosphere, and at the end the ladies took a photo together. However, the 23-year-old trained not only with the Belarusian. The Tennis Channel profile added a video on the X website in which we see her together with Qinwen Zheng. And unfortunately it’s not a very pleasant sight for Polish fans.
The recording consists exclusively of a series of service aces by the Chinese player. On both sides of the court, Zheng sent great, fast balls, and Świątek found it difficult to react in any way. At the moment, it looks like a bad forecast for the upcoming competition, as the Pole may have big problems with receiving her rivals’ serve. Tennis Channel shared some insight. “Fast indoor conditions will benefit those who serve flatly, like Qinwen Zheng, who hit bombs against Iga today,” we could read. Shorter players, such as Jasmine Paolini, should also benefit from this.
Fortunately, Świątek can only meet Zheng in the semi-finals. In the group stage, the Olympic champion from Paris will face Aryna Sabalenka, Jasmine Paolini and Jelena Rybakina. The first match will be played on Saturday, November 2, after 16:00 with the leader of the ranking. Then we will see whether the hall is really so conducive to its service.
