“Disturbing Fact” –

“The attempt to assassinate Donald Trump that failed by just a centimeter is a serious and disturbing fact. We express to the leader of the Republicans all our solidarity and closeness”. These are the words used by the president of the pro-Trump Roman committee: “It shows a crisis situation that affects the United States, a friendly and neighboring nation. It is an attack on the most likely next president of the United States. We will not add anything else because we are not conspiracy theorists. We believe that the USA is part of a geopolitical arc called the West, in which with the European nations there are common religious, historical, cultural and political roots. Of course, what was once called an Atlantic partnership would be necessary, that is, an alliance between equals. This would mean a true and common political and military responsibility of the European states, as was attempted 70 years ago, with the project of a single foreign and military policy”.

“We have no qualms – the committee continues – despite the attacks raining down on Trump, regarding the approval for his election, for which we do not believe that problems might arise for Italy. Our nation is close to the USA regardless of who the President is, also because on the geopolitical level little or nothing changes whoever the tenant of the White House is. The USA has a role that prevents it from being isolationist, neither for today nor for tomorrow. We, as Italy, have no right to judge the internal politics of the United States. Of course, we are in favor of greater sociality in the economic, health and support of productive activity, but we believe that, perhaps, a party like the Republican one might be closer to the middle and working classes, including immigrants”.
