Disturbing Crime: Alleged Murder of Top Orthopedic Surgeon in Tennessee Clinic Sends Shockwaves through Medical Community

2023-07-12 21:06:20

One of the top orthopedic surgeons in the state of Tennessee in the United States was allegedly murdered in a clinic by an angry patient on Tuesday, Collierville police confirm.

Authorities say 29-year-old Larry Pickens waited “several hours” for his victim in an examination room at the Campbell Orthopedic Clinic. He then allegedly shot surgeon Benjamin Mauck, 43, before fleeing, says Fox News.

The police arrested him outside, a few meters from the clinic. The alleged killer did not attack the other patients and employees who were present inside.

The man is charged with first degree murder and aggravated assault.

The Collierville Police Department did not release the motive. Pickens, however, was reportedly seen threatening employees earlier in the week at the same clinic.
