Another distinction for one of the leading Greek hair stylists, Patrini Emmanuela Georgopoulou.
This time the All Cyprus Federation of Hairdressers honored Ms. Georgopoulou with the first prize in the “Imagination Hairstyle” category at HAIR EXPO & AWARDS 2024 which was held with great success at the Pavilion Hall in Nicosia from 25 to 26 February 2024.
Her inspiration captured in the hairstyle she created garnered rave reviews from judges and viewers and of course her first place award.
She, speaking exclusively to “PtD”, stated the following:
“The Pancypriot Hairdressing Festival is organized by the Pancypriot Federation of Hairdressers. All professional shopkeepers and school students have the right to participate. There are two competitive parts: a) professionals and b) apprenticeships, where the committee defines the competitive topics separately in these categories. Along with the competition, many seminars are held and fashion trends are presented by renowned industry professionals from Greece and abroad. There is also an exhibition area where innovative tools and products for our profession are presented.
Hairdressing festival
The competitive part of my work is something that intrigues me, because it gives me the opportunity to express my creativity, to release feelings that are hidden and you don’t think they exist. My mind shuts down when I walk through the door of the competition arena, and there is nothing else but my goal and executing my coach’s guides.
The intensity is high, but in the end you get the fullness of the varied emotions regardless of whether you have received distinction.
I found out regarding the hairdressing festival through social media. The offer to compete came one morning from my coach Yota Zafeiropoulou and that was enough! I was immediately activated and the preparation began feverishly… From the time of choosing the topic I would participate with, the countdown began…
Award in the “fantasy hairstyle” and preparation category
First of all I will tell you that I feel proud to have competed as a Greek in our Cyprus. An island with a long history, written with a lot of pain! That alone makes me feel like a winner: that I set foot on these grounds. The All Cypriot Federation of Hairdressers honored me with the first prize in the “Imagination Hairstyle” category and embraced me with its supreme hospitality! The impeccable organization, combined with the knowledge of the various seminars, was a beneficial experience! His practical interest does not exclude the motivation for future collaborations! I would like to express my warm thanks to my coach Iota Zafeiropoulou, 2nd World Champion and Coach of Greece, who helped me in this effort and gave me her wealth of knowledge for free with a lot of love!
Suggestions for the salon of tomorrow
I would also like to express some suggestions in general regarding the hairdressing industry, and the salon of “tomorrow”:
1. Green salon with services that will have a holistic approach to the customer. Services that will prioritize the health of the count and the well-being of the consumer. 2. Certified mobile units that will serve sensitive population groups at home and limit the phenomena of illegal work and tax evasion. 3. Moving customers from their accommodation to the beauty and wellness centers, with green – electric cars. Goal, customer service, traffic congestion relief, and workforce employment. 4. Upgrading all existing businesses, switching to green hair salons, with energy-saving ergonomic machines, and environmentally friendly consumables. All of the above in combination a) with the reduction of the VAT rate of 13% on the provision of services (haircuts, bathing, treatments and hairdressing) reinstatement of the inclusion of unhealthy occupations and the retirement law for mothers with minors at the age of 55, will help the small business to take breath of growth and survive with competition and extroversion. The state bodies must take care of the problems and anxieties of the professionals and define foreseen programs, upgrading – renewal and covering operating expenses that will support professionals in the sector”.
