The second descent of Cortina d’Ampezzo, counting for the World Cup, was disrupted on Saturday by strong gusts of wind which led the organizers to suspend the event. The event has been interrupted since 11:45 a.m. and was initially supposed to resume around 12:00 p.m., a time since pushed back to 12:10 p.m., they said.

After the passage of 17 competitors, the Italian Sofia Goggia is in the lead, ahead of the French Laura Gauché, while the Austrian Stephanie Venier, winner the day before the first descent contested on the “Olympia delle Toffane” track, and the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami, share 3rd place.

The day before, the first descent was marked by numerous falls, including that of the American Mikaela Shiffrin, leader of the general classification. Hit in the left knee but not seriously, Shiffrin withdrew from the two races on the program in Cortina, Saturday and Sunday, as well as for the giant slalom at Kronplatz (Italy) on Tuesday.
