2023-05-19 08:20:00

Air traffic with Italy was disrupted on Friday in Charleroi and Brussels. Ground staff at Italian airports intended to go on strike. The unions canceled their action at the last minute at the insistence of Transport Minister Matteo Salvini, who recalled the state of emergency in force in the north of the country, according to the Italian news agency Ansa.

Some flights were still canceled at Brussels Airport and Charleroi, according to the websites of these airports. And Zaventemconnections with Florence and Venice were problematic, while a connection with Milan was canceled in Charleroi. Several Dutch airports faced the same difficulties, Eindhoven having to cut flights to Pisa and Milan (Ryanair).

Unions had called for a four-hour strike on Friday to demand better working conditions and pay for ground staff. But Minister Salvini asked to suspend the movement due to bad weather. A new action would be scheduled for June 4.
