For years, the municipality of Elsbethen has been suing a farmer for the right to walk on a hiking trail. Now the OGH decides.

Increasingly, hiking trails leading past farms and cow pastures are becoming a bone of contention. Such a right-of-way dispute has been bitterly fought for six years in Elsbethen between the municipality as the plaintiff and a part-time farmer.

The case concerns hiking trail 7 at the foot of the Trockene Klammen, which leads past the Archstein natural monument and to the left of the farm of the same name.
