Band has to take consequences and cancel concerts

Vienna (OTS) “No stage for alleged perpetrators,” confirm Meri Disoski, deputy club chairwoman and women’s spokeswoman for the Greens, and Viktoria Spielmann, women’s spokeswoman for the Greens Vienna, their position on the upcoming Rammstein concerts in Vienna following the new allegations that became known today. A person affected from Austria had made serious new allegations once morest Rammstein singer Till Lindemann to ORF.at. At an following-party, a violent act had taken place expressly once morest her will. The woman, who remains anonymous, has given her information in lieu of an oath to ORF.at.

“The next woman breaks her silence and describes how Rammstein frontman Lindemann abused his status and position of power as a rock star. She says what happened to her at an following-party by Rammstein singer Till Lindemann, namely violence by Lindemann. The woman, who wants to remain anonymous, backs up her statements with photos that have been checked by independent experts and that cannot simply be ignored and wiped away,” Disoski comments on the statements of a woman from Austria.

“I would like to thank her and all those who have not been intimidated and have testified in the past few weeks. It takes courage to publicly address the abuse of power by men and sexualized violence. We will not allow those affected to be intimidated by existing power imbalances and prevented from speaking regarding what they have experienced. I would like to say thank you for this courage”, says Disoski.

She reminds that the new statements “fit seamlessly into a long series of already known, serious allegations of sexualised violence by Lindemann. Numerous young women reported being systematically recruited to have sex with Lindemann following Rammstein concerts. Those affected testified that the influence of alcohol and drugs was said to have played a role, and at least one woman reported sexual acts that she had not consented to,” says Disoski.

“The new allegations by an Austrian victim once morest Till Lindemann show that there is a system to the abuse of power within the Rammstein band. It is intolerable that, despite the sworn statements made by several women affected by Rammstein in Vienna, the red carpet is still being rolled out as if nothing had happened. This is a devastating sign for anyone who has ever experienced sexualised violence. What is needed now is a quick and complete clarification of all allegations. Until the allegations have been clarified, we are in favor of the cancellation of the concerts and civil society protests once morest the concerts, as these concerts are obviously not a safe space for women,” says Spielmann, emphasizing: “We will not allow these concerts to take place without visible and loud protest. Therefore, as Green Women Vienna, we are calling for participation in the demonstration by the NGO #aufstand on July 26 at 5:30 p.m. in front of the Ernst Happel Stadium,” Spielmann notes.
