Greens: Anti-feminist attitude is unacceptable

Vienna (OTS) “With the government program of the new ÖVP-FPÖ coalition, Salzburg is taking huge steps backwards when it comes to women’s self-determination. Instead of guaranteeing unintentionally pregnant women low-threshold access to abortions, Black and Blue are attacking hard-won women’s rights. Under ÖVP Governor Haslauer, the new state government wants to develop a reactionary information campaign to avoid abortions and to adopt and foster parenthood as an alternative to abortions,” say the Green federal women’s spokeswoman Meri Disoski and Teresa Maschek, spokeswoman for the Green Women Salzburg, appalled.

“As was to be feared, the new Salzburg state government is demonstrating its anti-feminist, backward-looking attitude and is revealing its patronizing image of women for its debut. We condemn this attitude in the strongest possible terms and we resolutely reject it,” Disoski and Maschek continued.

“Women’s right to self-determination also includes their right to a safe abortion. We Green women will continue to fight for this right,” concluded Disoski and Maschek.
