Disoski/Greens: Investigations against Lindemann are the logical consequence of affidavits by several women

Vienna (OTS) As it became known today, the Berlin public prosecutor’s office has started investigations against Rammstein singer Till Lindemann. “The allegations of sexualized violence by Till Lindemann that have recently become known weigh heavily. Several women have testified in sworn statements that they were under the influence of drugs without their knowledge and described alleged rapes by Till Lindemann. It is important that the German judiciary takes these statements seriously and now initiates investigations into suspicion under Section 177 of the German Criminal Code,” says Meri Disoski, deputy club chairwoman and women’s spokeswoman for the Greens. The corresponding paragraph refers to sexual assault, sexual coercion and rape.

“In the past few days, well-known mechanisms from the #MeToo debate have been unleashed against the women who testified. Rammstein himself tried to intimidate and silence the women with threats of legal action. Male-dominated music journalism and the male-dominated feuilleton have tried in the best male-dominated manner to undermine the credibility of women, pursued the classic perpetrator-victim reversal and spoke romantically of ‘groupieism’ instead of abuse of power and sexualised violence. It is all the more important that the Berlin public prosecutor’s office investigates the serious allegations made by the women,” emphasizes Disoski.

Once again, Disoski renewed her support for a petition from aufstehn.at, which called for the cancellation of the concerts planned for July in Vienna under the title “Rammstein in Vienna: #no stage for alleged perpetrators!” and is now supported by 9,548 people. “As one of the now almost 10,000 people, it is also clear to me: As long as the allegations against Till Lindemann have not been completely clarified, an alleged perpetrator must not be offered a stage,” said Disoski.

Disoski then thanks all the women who “have courageously stood up against a well-known singer and testified in the past few weeks. Because it takes courage to publicly address the abuse of power by men and not to be intimidated by the existing power imbalance. It takes courage to talk about sexualised violence. And I would like to thank you for this courage.”
