After the success of ‘One Piece’, a Disney fan transformed Eiichiro Oda’s characters into Pixar protagonists. Now, Luffy, Nami and Zoro share the same universe as Woody and Buzz, and they might have an easter egg in the next few tapes.
The live-action of One Piece has enchanted the fans of the manga created by Eiichiro Oda. In fact, the series starring the Mexican Iñaki Godoy has surpassed other successes of the streaming giant, such as Merlina and Stranger Things. After the many complaints from other live-action that strayed from their original versions, fans are happy to have an adaptation as worthy as the one that has occurred with the new adventure of Luffy and his crew.
Although Netflix had the possibility of making an adaptation, that does not mean that in the future there will not be others. What would happen if Disney were encouraged to make their own version of One Piece? A fan of both worlds used an artificial intelligence tool to turn One Piece characters into the leads of the next Pixar movie. Thus, Luffy might be part of the same universe as Finding Nemo and Toy Story.
Monkey D. Luffy
In the series, Luffy is played by Iñaki Godoy, an actor of Mexican origin. Godoy has participated in other productions such as Who Killed Sara?, MexZombies and La querida del Centauro, the latter alongside Ludwika Paleta and Michael Brown when Godoy was barely 11 years old. Just like in the manga, Luffy goes on an adventure to find the greatest treasure of all: One Piece. Luffy’s determination will make nothing and no one stand in the way of his dream of being crowned the pirate king. In Pixar’s version of him, Luffy is very similar to Luca, and they might even be friends and share more adventures together.
Nami
Emily Rudd is the actress in charge of playing Nami. Prior to her role in One Piece, Rudd was cast in shows such as The Tudors, all three films in the Horror Street franchise, and Dreams from Mars. Nami is a fierce and independent thief who trusts no one. After meeting Luffy and being helped by him, Nami joins his crew. Her knowledge of navigation and cartography will be of paramount importance to the team, as well as being a master with the Bo staff. Somehow, Pixar’s Nami reminds us of Giulia, also from Luca’s film, and Mérida from Valiente.
Zoro
The one who has definitely taken the sighs of the public is Mackenyu, the actor of American-Japanese origin who plays Zoro. Mackenyu was more than destined for the role of Zoro; Being the son of Sonny Chiba, a martial arts legend in Japan, Mackenyu is responsible for doing each of his action sequences. By the way, Mackenyu only had his ears pierced for the Netflix show, which shows the great commitment of him, just like his Zoro character. In his Pixar version, Zoro would have a more mature and tough look than in the anime, something that wouldn’t necessarily bother fans.
