Disney XD, Nat Geo Kids, Wild, FXM and Star Life leave Latin America

According to a leak from Argentina, The Walt Disney Company plans to close the channels for Latin America Disney XD y Nat Geo Kids, junto a Star Life, Nat Geo Wild Y FXM. Thus, the entertainment company intends to prioritize Disney+.

The information was leaked on the portal ForoMedias, in which they published a letter that would have sent The Walt Disney Company Latin America a an Argentine operator on December 22.

The document, made public on January 10, reports the cessation of transmissions of the five channels for the next march 31. To this is added the closure of emissions of Star Premium for this January 31st.

The document specifies that the cessation of emissions will be done at the regional level. So that “They will not be available from the aforementioned date for any pay TV operator in the territory”, concludes the text.

DISNEY WILL CLOSE MORE THAN 100 CHANNELS

So far, the media conglomerate has not confirmed the closure of the five aforementioned channels. However, the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Chapek, reported in mid-2021 that they were going to close 100 channels around the world.

Consequently, the closure of Disney XD y Nat Geo Kids, junto a Star Life, Nat Geo Wild Y FXM it doesn’t seem unexpected. Even more taking in account the “content exclusivity” from other company platforms, such as Disney+ Y Star+.

Therefore, the American company would only be left with the signs of Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Star Channel, National Geographic Channel and the four signs of ESPN in the Latin American region.
