Disney+ Unveils Grandiose Adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series: Season 1 to Premier Next Week!

On Wednesday December 20, 2023, Disney+ will unveil Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The first images of the series already show an adaptation which aims to be as faithful as possible to the books.

After the failure of the Percy Jackson films with Logan Lerman, Rick Riordan’s books will once once more be adapted. This time, it’s Disney+ which is preparing to unveil a series which promises to be grandiose. Called Percy Jackson and the Olympians, season 1 is scheduled for next Wednesday, December 20 on the streaming platform. And this might well turn out extremely faithful to the booksnotably thanks to the involvement of the author.

To keep fans of the Percy Jackson universe waiting, a first trailer was unveiled on Tuesday September 19 by Disney+. In this one, we can discover Walker Scobell in the role of Percy Jackson, Leah Jeffries in that of Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri in that of Grover Underwood. A first glimpse that already makes you want to discover the series.

A crucial scene with Percy and Annabeth adapted into the series

In addition to the trailer, several promotional images of the series were shared by EW. The opportunity to discover that a very important scene which was not in the films will be adapted. In the photo we can see Percy and Annabeth sitting in a boat. At this moment they leave in search of Ares in Denver. After their meeting with the god of war, they are sent to a water park to recover his shield as well as Aphrodite’s scarf. The goal is to then be able to continue their journey to Hell.

Although this scene may seem trivial, it is actually very important for the rest of the adventure. Indeed, it shows the development of the friendship between Percy and Annabeth, who until then had a tense relationship. It also reveals Ares’ petty personality. Crucial details which have therefore been corrected and which should finally appear on screen for the greatest pleasure of fans.
