Currently, Disney is responsible for the Marvel cinematic universe, bringing several films and series. However, new information suggests that it will produce a new interaction for science fiction fans.
According to Bloomberg, Disney is developing a new version of the X-Files series, which will be produced by Black Panther and Creed director Ryan Coogler.
Rumors regarding a new version of The X-Files have been circulating for months, since Deadline revealed that the series’ original creator, Chris Carter, confirmed having spoken to Coogler regarding the project, but this is the first time that Disney’s name has been involved.
In an interview with a podcast, Carter said that he had spoken to Ryan Coogler, who will remake The X-Files with a diverse cast, and said that the new series would address conspiracies, bringing a more current and different approach to the original.
The X-Files is considered one of the greatest science fiction series of all time. It debuted in 1993 and aired until 2002, gaining sequels in the form of films and other seasons.
Apparently, the new version should not feature the iconic agents Scully and Mulder, played by Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, respectively.
Previously, Duchovny was asked what he would think of a reboot. He said he wouldn’t be part of it if Gillian or creator Chris Carter weren’t involved in the project, something that shouldn’t happen in the reboot.
