On the morning of July 8, Disney Interactive and GungHo Entertainment announced Disney Pixel RPG, a new free-to-play game that has opened up pre-registration exclusively for Apple App Store and Google Play Store users in Japan. At this time, it is unknown when pre-registration will open up for players outside of that region.
“Suddenly, an unknown program appears in the game world where the Disney characters live and begins to destroy the world,” it reads. the game’s website“Embark on a dreamlike adventure, full of unexpected encounters.”
“Due to a strange phenomenon, game worlds that shouldn’t be able to travel to each other are now connected, causing chaos for the Disney characters.”
Disney Pixel RPG is described as “a beginner-friendly RPG,” so those less familiar with the genre should have an easier time picking up the mechanics. Indeed, while the developers have noted that controls are simple and battles will be fast-paced, the combat system will have an autoplay option to skip the strategic elements.
There will also be a way for players to send their characters on expeditions to obtain in-game materials while they are not playing.
Disney Pixel RPG will bring various iconic characters
Confirmed characters for the game according to the website are Pooh from Winnie the Pooh, Genie from Aladdin, Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Stitch from Lilo and Stitch, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, and Ariel from The Little Mermaid.
Classic Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck will also be included. Lastly, there will be some customization options, as players will have their own unique avatar, which can be dressed in Disney-themed clothing. Examples shown include outfits inspired by Mickey and Donald.
