After the Criminal Cassation Chamber signed its dismissalaccused of illicit association, money laundering and extortion, the trade unionist Juan Pablo “Pata” Medina He celebrated the decision and said that “justice was served.” In addition, he compared the Cambiemos government with the last civic-military dictatorship.

The judicial decision was known this Wednesday and was ratified following Judge Alejandro Esmoris of the Federal Criminal Oral Court No. 2 of La Plata alleged in October 2022 that the accusations once morest Medina and seven members of his family were related to the “Buenaerense judicial table”. It was as a result of a meeting that was known in 2017 where a minister of the then governor María Eugenia Vidal participated together with officials from the Federal Intelligence Agency (AFI) and even the mayor of La Plata, Julio Garro.

After the prosecutor Rodolfo Molina appealed this decision, considering that the case had been closed prematurely, Casación debated the resolution once more and, by two votes to one, ratified it. Thus, Medina, her son Cristian, Juan Horacio Homs, David Emiliano García, Liliana Beatriz Frontán, Pablo Nicolas Neves, Marianela Lujan Pagnoni, Rubén Darío Roldan, María Fabiola García and Lara Micaela Muñoz were dismissed.

Violent pitched battle between UOCRA factions and the threat from Pata Medina’s grandson: “I’m going to kill them”

On the morning of this Thursday, Medina spoke in La García for AM750 of the ruling that ratified his release and stated: “With Mauricio Macri and María Eugenia Vidal we had a diabolical government. I did not think that in a democracy we would have a government so persecute journalists, trade unionists and SMEs”.

He even came to compare the management of Cambiemos at the national and Buenos Aires level with the latest civic-military process. “I lived through the dictatorship. With Mauricio Macri and María Eugenia Vidal I saw the same mechanisms“, he asserted, and said that he does not feel persecuted by the current administration.

Critical of the former president, he added: “I do not want to accept, under any point of view, that it remains in the stamp of history that a dictatorial government like Mauricio Macri’s has removed me.”

“Pata” Medina spoke regarding María Eugenia Vidal and said she wants to return to UOCRA

As on other occasions, Medina recalled that before being arrested in 2017, he had a good relationship with the then provincial president. “When Mauricio Macri and Maria Eugenia Vidal took office, he had an audience with her and everything was fine. I even brought him a folder on Hydraulic Works,” he recalled.

Former Governor María Eugenia Vidal.

As an anecdote, she related that Vidal asked her to be familiar with her. “There was a good vibe,” she said. “There I touched on the interests of María Eugenia Vidal, such as the Ensenada hydraulic plant. A work that they paralyzed and later gave it to (businessman Ángelo) Calcaterra,” she accused.

Finally, Medina revealed his desire to return to being the boss of the construction union, a position he lost following being arrested and for which he is in conflict with another faction headed by Iván Tobar. “Of course” Pata “wants to return to UOCRA La Plata,” he ratified.

What was the “Buenaerense judicial table”

In 2021, the then comptroller of the AFI, Cristina Caamaño, released a video with different participants where the Buenos Aires Minister of Labor, Marcelo Villegas, was heard expressing himself in the following terms: “Believe me, if I might have—and this is what you I will deny anywhere—if I might have a Gestapo, a raiding force to wipe out all the guilds, I would.” Shortly following, the federal judge of Quilmes, Luis Armella, ordered Medina’s arrest.
