Thus, on December 12, 2022, an individual presented himself to the Central Police Station of Saint-Louis, to declare having seen the day before, late in the evening, the name Mbaye Khalakha, notoriously known from the police archives as an ace of theft and who had just been released from prison, along with his acolytes in his neighborhood. He was carrying a backpack showing a nail puller.

The next day, he added, he was informed of a case of burglary in said neighborhood. To elucidate this case, an investigation was opened. According to our information, following long tails, investigations and cross-checks, the men of Commissioner Mamadou Tendeng, the head of the Saint-Louis police, managed to identify, locate and arrest the named AS Diop alias “Mbaye Khalakha”, at the home of his girlfriend, on the night of Friday, December 30. Aged 28, he is a mason living in the Pikine Sor district. Asked regarding the facts of which he is accused, he denied everything

But the exploitation of his mobile phone betrayed him. According to our interlocutors, he appears there in a video making the nouba with banknotes scattered on a mattress, where he is seated with his acolytes, following having probably committed a burglary.

Similarly, the viewing of said video, continue our sources, also allowed investigators to identify one of his acolytes. He was subsequently arrested, around the police station, when he had come to visit the named Mbaye Khalakha, in custody in the premises of the police station.

He was identified as B. Guèye, 18 years old. He is an apprentice driver. Heard in custody, he admitted to having participated in a series of burglaries planned by Mbaye Khalakha. He was very talkative in front of the investigators.

I knew Mbaye Khalakha in prison. He contacted me following my release from the Mac of Saint-Louis, to join his gang. During our burglaries, some stolen items were handed over to a certain Nd. Guèye who was in charge of conveying “the booty” to a certain Mr. Lô. The latter lives in Dakar and the rest is entrusted to the named Mr. Diop“, he revealed to the investigators.

In addition, the continuation of the investigations, within the framework of this affair, made it possible to successively arrest two other members of the gang. They are the artist Mr. Diop (born in 1979) and the driver Mr. Diawara alias “Ameth Dassa”, 26 years old. According to our sources, questioned regarding the facts, Mr. Diawara and Mr. Diop denied. The named Nd. Guèye, cited in this case, is on the run.

The search of his home allowed the investigators to find products from thefts. These are powdered milk, perfumes, mobile phones and a television. Also, the search of the room of the named Mr. Diop proved fruitful. Two televisions, probably from theft, were found there. The investigation also showed that there are other members of this gang on the run. They are actively sought, inform interlocutors.
