Kozhikode – Harshina, who protested in front of the Mother and Child Protection Center demanding justice for the incident where the scissors got stuck in her stomach during the delivery surgery, called off the strike. The decision was taken following discussions with Health Minister Veena George. The minister assured Harshina that justice would be served. The discussion was held in the office of the principal of Kozhikode Medical College.
Minister Veena George reached Samarapanthal and met Harshina and invited her for discussion. Harshina’s husband also participated in the discussion. The Chief Minister and the Health Minister came to inaugurate the new block of the Kozhikode Medical College including the emergency department. Meanwhile, the health minister came to see Harshina who was protesting in front of the mother and child care center.
According to the investigation report of the health department, the scissors found in Harshina’s stomach did not belong to Kozhikode Medical College. In 2017, Harshina had pointed out that she experienced unbearable pain following the surgery done at the Kozhikode Medical College. The report does not say how the 6-inch-long scissors got stuck in Harshina’s stomach. Harshina started the protest by pointing out the contradictions in the report and the lack of justice from the health department.
