On the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, our digital daily (Mali24) pays tribute to brave women far from the cameras and the media. Today March 08, 2023, our first issue is dedicated to a brave lady in the culinary arts.
Promoter of the KT RESTAURANT in the ENSUP canteen, Ms. Touré Korotoumou Traoré quickly established herself in a sector that is still considered informal. In a country where great ladies dream of working in a comfortable office, she chose the kitchen, a legacy bequeathed by her generous mother from the city of Meguetan (Koulikoro). Since early childhood, she has been attached to her mother, because she is the youngest child, the protege” of the Malian family. Despite her DIUT university degree in marketing in her pocket, she decided to make a career out of what she learned from her mother. A boulevard for her where she quickly established herself as a professional.
In his Restaurant in the canteen of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENSUP) in Bamako, you can see the customers comfortably seated for the tasting of their dishes. Tall (1.80m), this brave lady attracts her clients with her welcoming and respectful smile. Beyond customer satisfaction, RESTAURANT KT has been promoting African dishes since its opening in 2008.
There are dishes such as: rice with fat, Fokoyi, Fish soup, Yassa chicken sauce, Peanut sauce, breaded chicken, Okra sauce, Tomato sauce, Grilled chicken, Tô, grilled meat, Fonio tomato sauce, Saga-saga etc. . In short, it’s all the dishes of authentic African cuisine that can be found there at RESTAURANT KT in the ENSUP canteen.
Before setting up on her own account, this specialist in the culinary arts was a receptionist and sales agent in a hotel where she gained experience.
From her beautiful appearance, with a heart of gold, Ms. Touré Korotoumou Traoré is fundamentally generous, hence her regular gestures towards the needy. “I saw mum come to the aid of the needy, so of course it’s a pleasure for me too to do like her, rest her soul,” she proudly confides. An opportunity for her to ask the authorities to invest more in projects for the care of orphans, widows and beggars.
She owns 4 canteens which allow her to hire more than 10 people because according to her: “creating several jobs to fight once morest poverty is one of her top priorities. “Even if the country suffers from poverty, I suffer from not being able to help as many people as necessary”, she explains to justify her desire to help others.
On the occasion of March 8, Ms. Touré Korotoumou insists above all on the particular help of women, some of whom have projects but are not lucky enough to be financed.
To know if her husband will cook for her for the day of March 08. It was with a broad smile that she rushed to highlight the difficult tasks of her chosen one.
Forty, Senoufo originally from Sikasso but native of Koulikoro where she had her childhood, Korotoume Traoré, lives in Kalaban koro nèrèkoro with her husband Abdoulaye Touré. She is the mother of three (3) children in a large family with her nephews and nieces. A Koulikoroise tradition.
Happy birthday to all women fighters.
