Discovery of acute hepatitis of unknown origin in children

The Ministry of Health claims to be closely monitoring the development of the appearance of new serious cases of acute hepatitis of unknown origin detected in children in certain countries of the world (in Europe and the United States).

Following a note issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), the ministry underlines that the various medical structures follow the geographical expansion of the disease in order to take adequate preventive measures at the national level, we read in a press release published on Friday April 29, 2022.

It should be noted that the first cases of this disease have appeared since October 2021 in the United States, having recorded, until April 21, 2022, 169 cases of infections and a single death in children from 1 to 16 years in 12 countries, indicates the Tunisian Department of Health.

Infected people may lose their appetite, have nausea, vomiting, fever, abdominal pain and jaundice.
