Saint-Martin-en-Haut. A great preview for the Low-tech documentary. The documentary film Low-tech premiered on Monday May 15 at the Paradiso cinema.
Many spectators had made the trip to discover the new documentary by Adrien Bellay. Already noticed for his first documentary film The Awakening of Permaculture (2017), the young director brings, with Low-tech , new avenues for reflection on a possible technical sobriety of our societies. Through several testimonials from individuals and groups who are opening up paths in this process, the film proposes to (re)question the promises of unlimited technical progress. Low-tech, an English term, is defined as an implementation of simple, durable, inexpensive technologies and therefore accessible to all, but still easily repairable. “Low-tech does not mean: without technique (no-tech)”, underlines the director. Humanity is eminently technical and this since the time of the first individuals who seized pebbles as their first tools. The film is rooted in the reality of “doing” and eco-construction, in particular by presenting the Atelier du Zéphyr association located in the Monts du Lyonnais, which works in this direction by building small wind turbines. Low-tech also highlights other initiatives such as those of the Repairs cafés which offer individuals the opportunity to come and empower themselves by learning how to repair defective everyday objects.
The Low-tech documentary film was released in theaters on Wednesday, June 7.
