Every week in the summer, France 3 Corse Via Stella offers you a series of reports on the same theme. This week, we are devoting it to Corsican biodiversity.
This week, Solange Graziani and Typhaine Urtizverea take you on a discovery of the biodiversity of the island, which abounds in species, on land, in the air or at sea.
The population of the European red kite represents 95% of the world population, but this raptor present in Spain, Switzerland and France is decreasing. In France, this species is listed on the red list of threatened species; but in Corsica, the royal kite is doing well.

Episode 3: species of sandy bottoms
Marine fauna and flora constitute an important part of biodiversity, but for 50 years, it has been in sharp decline across the planet due to human activities, pollution and overfishing.
Corsica to a lesser extent is affected by this phenomenon.
In Corsica, scientists from the Revellata marine station are drawing up an inventory of the species inhabiting the sandy bottoms, an environment that has not been studied so far.

Episode 5: the tapinoma magnum
When biodiversity collapses, invasive species become dominant in the natural environment. This is the case of the Tapinoma Magnum ant. Its expansion is favored by climate change but also by our impact on the environment.
