It was the nuances in the project, analyzed in terms of over a hundred criteria, that determined that the competition will take place there and not in Geneva. This concerns, among other things, the proposed arenas, which have very similar predispositions, but the Basel hall requires minor infrastructure changes.

The producers of the competition also mentioned differences in the creative approach of cities. Basel wants the competition to take place not only in its zones, but covered the entire city. Various attractions are planned in many places, and the broadcaster was particularly interested in the concept Stadium Plus.

Local authorities and residents celebrate the success, rejoicing that as a symbolic city at the tripoint of borders will be able to welcome fans from all over the world and television delegations from over 30 countries. The benefits for other Swiss cities and the profits that Eurovision will bring to e.g. hotels in borders of France and Germany. Basel politicians do not want to estimate the financial balance for now. They refer to the results published after Eurovision 2023 by Liverpool, which recorded a multi-million income thanks to the arrival of thousands of fans.

Eurovision 2025: Canton plans budget

Even before the host was chosen, local authorities announced the outline of the financial resources they want to allocate for the 69th edition of the show. Opening Ceremony and attractions for fans. What is it about Stadion Plus? When are tickets?

The locations of individual Eurovision events are now certain. Opening Ceremony z Turquoise Carpet will take place on Sunday 11 houses in the congress center Basel Trade Fair. So 2 in this place, in the evening, there will be a welcome party, closed to the public, with the participation of about 2 thousand guests, mainly all the teams taking part in the competition. In the immediate vicinity there will be traditional attractions for fans: Eurovision Village in Euroclub. But this is not the end of the plans.

The authorities also want to transform the streets of Basel into long strips of Eurovision events. Known for its vibrant nightlife Steinenvorstadt in the very center will turn into Eurovision Street. Performances by local artists will add splendor to the time spent at Kleinbasler Rheinbord – the boulevard along the Rhine – and on the square Barfüsserplatz. In turn, the section between the Badischer Bahnhof and Basel SBB railway stations will be located Eurovision Boulevard.

The decision-makers on Swiss television were also convinced by the proposal Stadion Plus. 20,000-seat football arena St. Jakob-Park does not meet the criteria for organizing Eurovision. However, there is nothing to prevent the broadcasts on May 13, 15 and 17 at the stadium was watched by crowds of fans who did not get tickets to the correct hall.

Thousands of tickets sold for a total of nine concerts (two semi-finals and a final, plus two rehearsals for each evening) will start at the end of the year.
