While the Yakuza series, now known as Like a Dragon, has almost always offered great adventures, the upcoming Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth still seems to be taking it to a whole new level. As we’ve reported before, the world is three times the size of Yakuza: Just like a dragon, this one is huge to begin with. It’s not just for show, as there’s a lot to do.
Studio Director Masayoshi Yokoyama is at Automaton-Media explained the scale in an interview, stating that if you try to do everything, the game may never end:
“First of all, the main story is quite long. It has two main characters, and there are a lot of other characters, so there are quite a number of side stories related to each of them.
Then there’s “Dondoko Island” and “Bucket List,” which are filled with side content and substantial enough to be standalone games, depending on how you play them. But, on the other hand, both “Dondoko Island” and “Bucket List” are optional. After all, side stories in Like a Dragon games have always been optional. You can just play through the main story if you want, or you can play side stories to get a feel for the volume. This remains the same in Infinite Fortune. Also, if you try to clear everything, it may never end.
But even if you don’t do any side stories and just rush through the adventure, it’ll still take you 3-4 days (regarding 100 hours) if you don’t sleep and just play – although Yokoyama doesn’t think you should try to do that:
“If you just want to clear the main story of “Infinite Wealth”, it will take regarding 3-4 days without sleep. This means no sleep, no detours, and almost no side stories, so please enjoy the game bit by bit and don’t lose sleep.
Games like Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth are all regarding discovering interesting things, weird mini-games, unexpected secrets, and more, so it seems like anyone who wants to indulge in Ichiban Kasuga’s new adventure will get their money’s worth.
