“I have been chomping at the bit for four years. It is a particular happiness because we were a little frustrated, ”rejoices Claude Jeannerat, president of the Association Les Médiévales, while the festival of the same name has been in full swing since Friday evening in St-Ursanne. The medieval city will live until Sunday evening to the rhythm of concerts, exhibitions, conferences and scenes of medieval daily life. “For me, the two strong points remain the torchlight procession on Saturday evening and the solemn mass on Sunday morning,” says Claude Jeannerat. The theme of this edition, “Scents and flavors in the Middle Ages”, was a challenge for the organisation: “Usually, the themes relate to historical facts. It’s easier to organize animations around it. There, it is a fact of daily life in the Middle Ages”, explains the president of the association who hopes “as large a participation as in previous editions” while the last party brought together some 50,000 people in 2019. /mmi
