Like Barbie, she wears powder pink – but a slightly more permanent cut: in Bernadette, Catherine Deneuve, pastel blazers and pursed lips, plays a Bernadette Chirac who, in the mid-1990s, seeks to emerge from her husband’s shadow and to restore her image considered austere. This offbeat biopic by Léa Domenach, with Denis Podalydès, has not yet been released on Swiss screens but will be campaigned next week at the Helvetia French Film Festival (FFFH).
