You may have already heard of Head Spa, this concept straight from Japan that is making a splash on social media. This type of spa, dedicated to the scalp, is increasingly practiced in Belgium. We attended a session in a beauty institute located in Bastogne.

Entrusting your hair to the hands of massage professionals is very trendy! The Head Spa is indeed very successful at the moment thanks to social networks. Sophie Maquet, manager of a beauty institute in Bastogne, confides: “It was all the rage right away, mainly on the Instagram and TikTok applications. I saw videos and said to myself, it’s great. My priority is precisely to bring methods from all over the world here, in my center, in Bastogne.”
“It really allows you to relax. Within the institute, we also treat scalp conditions because we are in a dermo-aesthetic center. I therefore offer treatment for psoriasis, hyperseborrhea, excema, etc. “hypersensitivity, etc.”, explains Sophie Maquet.
Sessions generally last between 1 and 2 hours, allowing time to complete the different steps to obtain optimal results. “First, we carry out a skin diagnosis, then we apply the appropriate products. Then, while I let the products sit, I move on to the relaxation side with an upper body massage, ending of course with the scalp “explains the beautician.
Particularly inspired by Shiatsu, Head Spa is today practiced worldwide. The concept has established itself in Dubai, Paris and in the Province which, it seems, has a head start.
