It is a project that lasted three years, on Boulevard Anspach, in the heart of Brussels. The palisades are now dismantled, as are the gates that blocked access to the Stock Exchange Palace For years. The facade, rid of the marks of rain and pollution, has regained a light color, close to what passers-by must have seen during the inauguration of the building by Léon-Pierre Suys, in 1873.
The Palais de la Bourse, central landmark of the Brussels city center.
Inside, the monumental room where the sessions of the Brussels Stock Exchange were held until 1996 has been restored. The coat of white paint that had been hiding the faux marble columns and friezes for years has been removed. This is where visitors can reach the Belgian Beer World, beer museum, which should eventually welcome 600,000 visitors per year. But the renovated Stock Exchange offers other surprises, such as an archaeological site reopened to the public and a rooftop close to the Grand-Place.
The building reopens its doors to the general public this Saturday, September 9, but The Echo has already been able to take a walk there to give you a taste of it. Follow Nel Vandevannet, director of the Autonomous Municipal Authority (RCA) Bourse Beurs, below for a 360° visit.
