The direction of the visit will be reversed so that the route through the approximately 800 works presented ends at a “crossroads” of three other permanent exhibitions devoted to the painters Auguste Herbin and Geneviève Claisse and to Tériade, whose real name Stratis Eleftheriadis, art critic and editor.

A very large exhibition space will punctuate the center of the Matisse route. Its proportions and its versatility will make it a tool suitable for all scenographies and all formats of work, but will also make it possible to modulate the permanent exhibition.

In addition, groups will be welcomed on the ground floor in a large hall directly connected to the start of the permanent exhibition and to four new resized workshops. While individual visitors will cross the historic courtyard of the Palais Fénelon to emerge in a redesigned, airy and largely glazed hall overlooking the park.

Three trays by way of extension take place in the available volume of the former Market Hall, without affecting the historic facade of the building.

The whole of the work approaches 12 million euros, of which more than 10 million financed by the department, the balance by a contribution from the State and the call for patrons.
