It is a real new living space, where various events can take place, which is being created on the site of the former Bavarian hospital.
This Saturday saw the inauguration of the new “place des Arts” and the new facilities that take place at the level of boulevard de la Constitution and the crossroads with rue Ransonnet up to the Dérivation.
“As part of the project to reclaim and rebuild the site of the former Bavarian hospital, the Municipal College has taken a particular interest in the complete remodeling of the site’s public spaces in order to promote the living environment of both inhabitants than users”, indicates the City of Liège. These spaces cover a total area of some 20,000 m². The total budget for these developments is estimated at €6.9 million, 80% of which is subsidized by the ERDF Plan of the European Community and by the Walloon Region. »
On the one hand, there is therefore this new “Place des Arts” which will allow the organization of large-scale public events in connection with the neighboring cultural institutions (Music Academy and Cultural Development Center “B3”). “It extends over an area of 5,800 m² and, like an agora, offers a large space for conviviality and relaxation. On this clear and wooded site there is also a vast fountain with jets of more than 253 m², which will further enhance the soothing aspect of the place. In addition to the many benches that dot the layout, it also has two drinking terminals, one on the rue Ransonnet side and the other on the playground side. »
This new 1,200m² playground is divided into two areas, one for children (3 to 6 years old) and the other for older children (6 to 12 years old).
“The first will frolic on a “wooden mikado” type module, on a rope hammock and a turnstile. The older ones will have a high rope course integrated into the natural setting of the site. The space will be decorated with picnic tables to the delight of young and old alike. »
