discover the host of new photo options

The Galaxy S22s benefit from new modes dedicated to astrophotography or multiple exposures. The camera also now offers more creative control.

The smartphones have the opportunity to improve from one update to another. With the high-end smartphones, manufacturers sometimes even try to add new features to pave the way for the next generation. The Galaxy S22, S22 Plus et S22 Ultrawho come just updated to One UI 5have just seen several photo novelties announced by the brand via and Press release. You can already install them if you have one of these smartphones.

First novelty, the application Expert RAW, which gives more control over the camera than the basic app, sees the addition of two new modes. The first is a mode dedicated to astrophotography.

At the top right of the interface, a constellation-shaped icon provides access. Once launched, the mode displays the constellations in the sky and offers you to adjust the pause time.

Another interesting addition, a mode called Multiple Exposures allows you to shoot several images in a row to combine them. You will also find this mode at the top right of the interface, with an icon in the shape of two intersecting rectangles.

The camera assistant

When taking photos on a smartphone, you often have the choice between being completely handheld or diving into Pro mode, which can seem a bit complex. Halfway through, Samsung decided to add a Camera Assistant to help gain a bit more creative control, even outside of Pro mode.

To activate it, you will have to go to the Galaxy Store to download the Camera Assistant application. Once installed, go to the settings where you will find a new sub-menu containing the assistant.

It contains a total of 8 new settings:

Auto HDR: if you want to get atmospheric photos without the HDR effect, now you just have to turn it off.

Soften photos: You can enable this feature to soften the sharp edges and textures of your photos.

Automatic lens switching: you can now disable the automatic lens switching function, which automatically switches lenses in dark environments or when you get closer to the object to be photographed. For example, if you want to continue using the telephoto lens instead of the wide lens to take a picture of the object closer to you, just turn it off in the menu.
Video recording in Photo mode: You can disable this feature, which allows you to take a video clip by long pressing the button in Photo mode, saving you from accidentally recording a video.
Number of photos after timer: You could already automatically take multiple photos in quick succession after the timer counted down. Now you can also choose the number of photos to take (1, 3, 5 or 7 photos).
Faster shutter: This mode allows you to take up to seven photos in one second. This function is very useful for taking pictures of moving objects.
Camera timeout: You can select how long the Camera app (preview screen) stays on continuously for 1, 2, 5, or 10 minutes.
Clean preview on HDMI displays: View camera preview without menus or buttons on HDMI-connected displays.
