From June 30 to July 2, many activities will be to be discovered in the city center, for the 9th edition of the Dragon Festival. Formerly called “Festival of the old center”, this event, which is as cultural as it is entertaining, brings together thousands of participants each year.
On the program, exhibitions, workshops, games, pistou soup and even a pétanque competition. According to Deputy Delegate for Participatory Democracy Grégory Loew, this annual event is part of the “valorization of the heritage, the terroir and the traditions of Provence”
Forty participating associations
Organized in partnership with more than forty local associations, the event is part of a process of “solidarity” and advocates the enhancement of these. In total, more than forty free events are organized. Only the pétanque challenge and the pistou soup require a financial contribution. A portion of the proceeds will fund charitable projects.
By offering walks and visits, the City also wishes “promote the historic center”.
On Saturday evening, music and illuminations will be on the agenda with a pyrotechnic show, at 10.30 p.m., and twelve concerts in various places.
Designed for families, the Dragon Festival offers a wide choice of activities for all ages: exhibition of manufactured dragons, open-air cinema at the open-air theater, face painting or Lasertag and Magnetag (sword fight) from 6 and 8 years old. “The focus is on families and the goal is to create social ties,” explains the deputy.
The crafts and craftsmen of the “arts district” will also be highlighted. Several discovery workshops will allow young and old to familiarize themselves with their techniques: clay, bookbinding, painting on plaster…
On Sunday, the festivities will end with a Provençal craft market and a garage sale in the city center, for which registrations are still open.
