Discover the Cool Side of Europe: Beat the Heat and Explore Northern Destinations

It’s cooking ! The thermometer continues to climb in southern Europe. 40 degrees and more in Spain, 46 in Italy, Greece under the heat wave, Turkey is suffocating. As Eric Charden sang, summer will be hot. Too hot in these regions. Global warming and its consequences are not about to diminish, tourists will probably think twice in the future (more or less near) before planning their “long summer holidays” in Saint-Raphael , Amalfi, Kos or Marbella.

The nerve center of summer tourism risks heading resolutely north. Even if they do not (yet?) compete with traditional destinations, the Scandinavian countries but also Scotland and Ireland are beginning to attract a new audience. In this respect, Belgium has a good card to play. Even more Wallonia than the coast that the most alarmist forecasts announce submerged by the rise in the level of the oceans. This Walloon region, which moreover is not limited to the Ardennes, has great assets that it does not (always) manage to show or exploit. During the Covid period, many Belgians certainly (re)discovered their country but, as soon as the borders were (half)opened and the planes were able to take off, they spun in the English way. We are not (yet?) at the time to answer “in the nooooooord” to the question “are you coming for the holidays?”.
