2023-06-22 16:32:44

A handful of oilseeds whether almonds, pistachios, walnuts, hazelnuts or cashews (or a combination) is a good snack at 11 or 4 p.m.

Oilseeds contain good fats, vegetable proteins, fibre, vitamins (E, B1 and B2) and minerals (calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium), carotenoids and phytosterols (powerful antioxidants). Their Omega 3 intake is essential, among other things, for eyesight, the brain and the nervous system.

Even if they are caloric, oilseeds provide energy to the body. Ideal for children, teenagers and athletes. But also the elderly at the rate of a handful per day and provided that it is the natural version (neither salted nor grilled).

Excellent to chew on as a snack or even added to a green salad, oilseeds can be interesting in the event of food rebalancing (but in a reasonable dose).

A few precautions to take

There are allergies to oilseeds. We think of peanuts but in reality, they belong to the peanut family. On the other hand, walnuts, almonds, Brazil nuts and hazelnuts can cause more or less serious reactions. Read the labels of any processed product carefully and pay attention to the mention: “may contain traces of nuts”.
