Offering his customers a different way to travel with an atypical vehicle is the challenge that Philippe Sireix has set himself. Supported by his partner, he created, last year, Azur side tour. Philippe Sireix offers rides, alone or in pairs, aboard his vintage sidecar to help you discover or rediscover the most beautiful landscapes of the Côte d’Azur.
“This idea came to me during a trip to Morocco. A local person offered rides in a sidecar, I found the idea original and atypical. I said to myself why not do it in France, he remembers. In the Alpes-Maritimes it did not exist. I wanted to be the first to do it.”
Even to the bride and groom
But this is not the only reason for the birth of this project. Philippe Sireix has been a driving school instructor for twenty years. After having passed more than 2000 motorcycle licenses, this one needed renewal. “I have always been passionate regarding motorcycles, it is my sensitivity. I like driving, human contact, transmitting and sharing with my students. Azur side tour it’s a new challenge, a new way to discover the sensations of motorcycling: the feeling of freedom, serenity, communion with nature.”
Philippe Sireix wants to pass on his knowledge of the region to his customers thanks to the walking tours he has designed. Discover Antibes but also the perched villages like Saint-Paul-de-Vence or Gourdon, the Estérel massif from Cannes to Saint-Raphaël in the Var…
The walks can last between 1h30 and a day. Prices vary between 150 euros and 380 euros. “I also offer tailor-made walks, at the request of my clients. We can think together regarding a route, according to their desires”, adds Philippe Sireix. The sidecar is for everyone and for children from 10 years old. The biker also offers his sidecar to the bride and groom.
Security is essential
For the rider, nothing is more important than safety. Very different from the motorcycle and more stable, the sidecar is a good compromise between a car and two-wheelers. “I noticed that people on the road pay more attention to us. I am calm in the way I ride with my customers. I have a kind of instinct for things thanks to my job as a motorcycle instructor.” Its customers are also reassured to ride with a professional two-wheeler.
