Given the precision and meticulousness of her creations, one would think that she had her head full of knots. Yet Romane assures him, it’s not that complicated. Easy to say at the same time when you are passionate! And moreover, patient.
“I have been creating since I was little, explains the young woman who has just celebrated her 27th birthday. I’ve always been manual, doing a bit of sculpture, a lot of drawing…” Why did she get into macramé? “Because I find it beautiful, she exclaims, quite naturally. And indeed, when you discover the decoration of your apartment in Entressen, it’s rather pleasant, even soothing. Its suspensions with wooden beads, white rope and sometimes jute, bring a touch of naturalness, softness and a cocooning spirit.
“What if I did it myself?”
Originally from the suburbs of Paris, Romane Cervi took up macramé seriously when she arrived in the south a little over a year ago. And then, finally, it’s also the right timing to get into it, given the current trend. Crochet dresses and macrame decorative objects are in all stores and magazines this year. Gone is the rather old-fashioned image of the granny knitting by the fire, now it’s a fashionable practice!
“On the markets, you see a lot of people doing that. It interested me a lot and when I looked at the prices… Phew! As I’m manual, I saw how much the raw material could cost and I said to myself: What if I did it myself?”. She then started big straight, and
Motivated like never before, she created a screen from a wooden structure that she salvaged. The centerpiece now sits in her bedroom.
Romane ties her knots at the end of the day, or on weekends, when her schedule allows it, because she has a job on the side. She works in a company specializing in the transport of solar panels in Port Saint Louis du Rhône, but keeping this creative side tickled her. She imagines suspensions with driftwood, but also moon mirrors, heart-shaped key rings, shoulder bags, poufs, shelves, baskets… She has also just made a birth kit, and red wristbands, for variety.
When you have a creative mind like that, it’s hard to stop! Romane has also tried her hand at crochet. She also offers shell mirrors, or Jujuhat, with beautiful white feathers.
“One day I was contacted by Brigitte, from the Domaine des 3B in Entressen, who saw what I was doing and thought it was cute. She then offered me to exhibit at her market of creative artisans, rewinds the young woman. And one thing led to another, it became more serious“. It is the case to say it, it even became the name of his project. “I had to find something that connects everything I do, crochet, macrame…“And it just gave “Au fil des nodes”.
By the end of the month, his (many) creations will soon be put away in boxes. Relocation mission for the designer and her companion who are going to live in a house nearby, still in Entressen. “We like it!”, slips the young woman into a big smile, especially since she will be able to use an entire room as a workshop.
