La Couscousserie des Sables has just opened its doors in the city center, 69 rue des Halles in Les Sables-d’Olonne. Since its inauguration, the room has been crowded, and the welcome is warm when you enter.
A real olfactory pleasure, the scents of spices mixed with the smell of grilled meat take the taste buds on a journey.
Favorite for the establishment
The owners Momo Oukacha and Toufik Riah have acquired solid experience in catering, around ten years in the 18th century in Paris, then four years in the Montmartre district. When asked how they got to Les Sables-d’Olonne
“It was love at first sight, we were on vacation, and following the beach we came to have a coffee at the Bistrot du Palais, and while I was saying that I would like to settle down here, Carole, the owner, told us said she was considering selling her establishment. We visited the same followingnoon, we liked it straight away, and the deal was done. We worked well in Paris, so we felt a little worried at the beginning, but the neighboring businesses welcomed us, and we had people very quickly”
Toufik Riah, co-manager of the restaurant
Stewed tagines, eggplant moussaka
The restaurateurs work only with fresh products, from local partners, both for vegetables and meats.
La Couscousserie des Sables sells takeaway and even lends a couscous maker for orders of five or more.
The menu changes daily with three different dishes, depending on availability, this Monday it was veal blanquette, veal kidneys, homemade puree, oyster mushrooms, endive gratin, or eggplant moussaka. In addition, you can enjoy tasty couscous and simmered tagines every day.
“My cooking is made with the heart, I make all my recipes with love, that’s how we work, we like to share and exchange with our customers, that’s why it works well, people appreciate it and come back. Besides, if a dynamic person is looking to work a few hours a day, for the service, for them to come and see us, that would suit us well”
Momo Oukacha, chef of the establishment
The atmosphere is very friendly, and the quality of the dishes attracts gourmets, so the restaurant is often full, so to be able to taste the homemade oriental cuisine of Couscousserie des sables, it is best to book.
