Going to a ski resort can be expensive. Last year, vacation rental site Bellvilla compared 160 six-day packages from 160 ski resorts in a survey. In Austria, the average price is €293.41. Among our French and German neighbors, the average amount amounts to €235.21 and €240.20 respectively. On the other hand, the price explodes in Switzerland with €342.17.
Faced with such prices, we say to ourselves that it would be nice to have a ski resort with more reasonable prices, and best of all, close to us. Good news, this place exists. It is not a resort, but a ski slope. To discover it, you have to head towards Noeud-Les-Mines, in the North of France.
How to sleep well in the mountains? The answer in images :
A 320 meter long track
This unusual ski slope is located in Loisinord, a well-known sports complex on the other side of the border. The place is actually located on an old slag heap 129 meters high. The track extends over more than 10,000 m2, 320 meters long and has a gradient of 28°. It is intended for all skiers: from beginner to expert, from skier to snowboarder. A half-pipe structure is in fact installed, as well as three “slide” ramps. Note also the presence of a mogul field for people who would like to indulge in mogul skiing. Two buttock pullers are also installed. But how does the track work? It actually reproduces the sliding effects thanks to the recycled water misters installed every 20m.
The Loisinord ski slope is the only permanent outdoor slope on the entire European continent. Certainly, you will not have the same sensations as on a ski slope at altitude, but you will have the opportunity to discover a new experience, to warm up before going to a resort in the Vosges or the Alps, but also ski without breaking the bank. In fact, the price is set at €10 per hour, materials included.
For your safety, it is advisable to wear suitable clothing with long sleeves, pants and gloves. For comfort, you can add spare socks, because the misters which facilitate the sensations also wet the shoes.
