Rest of the mind is essential to overall well-being, and it is not limited to a full night’s sleep. There are six essential types of rest that help rejuvenate body and mind.
physical rest:
Physical rest is taking breaks from physical activities and allowing the body to relax and recover. This may include getting enough sleep, avoiding overwork, practicing gentle exercises like yoga or stretching, or simply taking a few minutes each day to sit quietly and be mindful of your body. Embracing physical rest involves taking the time to understand when your body needs a break and actively creating space for it.
Mental rest:
Mental rest is giving the mind a break from constantly thinking regarding problems, tasks, and worries. It involves intentionally engaging in creative and calming activities, such as reading a book, listening to music, meditating, playing an instrument or a board game with friends, or having light conversations with family members. Emotional rest:
Emotional rest is regarding finding ways to reduce stress levels and calm down during times of emotional turmoil or distress. - To pay attention to energy consumption by turning off the lights when leaving a room that is not used for long hours.
- To wear natural fabrics that do not contain toxins.
- To grow plants indoors.
- Use natural cleaning products that are non-toxic.
- Reduce consumption levels by making conscious purchases.
- Limit single-use plastics.
- To adopt minimalism when possible.
