From May 1st, Lufthansa will be sending the new Allegris long-haul cabin into service with many seating options. We looked at how the booking process is designed.
On Saturday (April 13th) Lufthansa took delivery of its first aircraft with the new Allegris cabin in Germany. The Airbus A350 with the registration D-AIXT and the baptism name Leipzig was transferred from Toulouse to Munich as flight LH9851.
The airline has now announced the start of scheduled service with Allegris on May 1st. The first flight goes to Vancouver in Canada. “The second destination is Toronto, which will be served on selected flights alternately with Vancouver in the first few months,” explains Lufthansa. With additional A350s delivered, the Allegris cabin will also be used on flights to Chicago and Montreal in the summer.
Allegris flights are specially marked
For the first time, travelers can now view a seat map with all special Allegris seats, such as the five options in business class, for all Allegris flights from May 1st. There are a total of 14 Allegris seat options, of which only twelve are marketed separately (double seat and seat with baby seat are not). First Class is currently missing from the Allegris A350s as Lufthansa is still waiting for approval.
aeroTELEGRAPH looked at the booking form for the first Allegris flights. The first thing you notice is that when you select your flight, the flights are marked with the new cabin. “Allegris: New seating concept” can be read in white letters on a blue background. Once you have reached the seat selection on such a flight, there is the menu “Overview of seat types” on the right. Clicking on a type opens a small window with information regarding the seat and some photos. The price is also there.
Business class options still free
In this window you can also click on “Show more seat information”. A large window then opens with comprehensive information regarding Allegris and the different seat types in the new cabin.
In business class, “price” still reads “free of charge”. Lufthansa explains: “Seat reservations in business class are free of charge in the first few months.” Guests already booked on flights now operating on an Allegris jet will receive a notification. Passengers can see whether a flight is equipped with the product three weeks before departure.
