It is one of the most picturesque destinations in the country: a small beach, water sports, boat trips, restaurants and shops… all in a unique, green and rugged setting as you can see. 1.87 km long and 0.75 km wide, it is the perfect copy of Lake Gérardmer in France. It is one of the cleanest lakes in Germany.
In the heart of the Black Forest, a lake of just over a square kilometer is the pride of the locals. Its name makes you smile and its beautiful decor set with mountains and alpine landscapes leaves you speechless. Its characteristics and dimensions make it the perfect symmetrical lake of Gérardmer on the other side of the border in France.
In summer, walkers stroll along the banks, hikers take advantage of the tour of the lake and tourists swim there, practice sailing, windsurfing or pedal boating. Fishermen indulge their passion, the crystal clear waters having the reputation of being full of fish. Trout and pike bite in abundance.
In winter, when snow covers the surrounding mountains and when the lake is frozen, Titisee becomes a must for winter sports enthusiasts. The region has downhill and cross-country ski trails and snowshoe trails.
Some also go there for a fitness cure, the thermal therapy offer is extensive.
the cuckoo clocks
It is on the shores of Lake Titisee that the cuckoo clocks were born, obsolete clocks which once made the pride of the bourgeois and which today still arouse the desires of lovers of tradition, insensitive to any trends of the moment.
Watchmaking is also flourishing there with the famous cuckoo clocks. Small and large tell a page of the history of the area. Day and night, the little bird comes out to mark the hour and sometimes the half-hour, followed for some by swirling dancers. The bigger it is, the bigger the troop. If the spectacle seems trivial, the complex mechanism is the work of the greatest craftsmen of watchmaking in high engineering.
For a quality cuckoo clock that will last, count a minimum of 75 €. Some exceed 800 €
