It is common for women to wash rice before cooking, but what is the reason for this common custom?
Experts pointed out that rice should be washed before cooking it, because rice will be affected by many harmful factors during harvesting, processing, packaging and other processes.
The washing process helps remove dust, bug marks, etc. from the rice. It also helps remove excess starch and prevents it from sticking during cooking.
For these reasons, it is necessary to know the correct way to wash the rice, that is, first soak the rice in a bowl of cold water, then filter it, and repeat this process repeatedly until the color of the water becomes clear.
It is useful to rub the grains with your hands during the cleaning process, as this process not only helps clean the rice but also makes it easier and more successful to cook.
To get non-sticky rice, it is recommended to wash a sufficient amount of rice and put it in a bowl, then add a little vegetable oil and stir the mixture on the fire for a while, then add salt and water.
The important thing is to cover the rice with water by regarding 2 to 3 cm, then leave it for 15 to 20 minutes over low heat, until you get delicious rice similar to what is prepared in restaurants.
