It was with a big smile that Virginie and Sophie, the managers of “Mon coiffureur” located in the pedestrian district of Venelles in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, welcomed both regulars and curious people this Sunday as part of Discovery Day Companies, event of which we are one of the partners.
Small coffee, some pastries from a “super local artisan” and cold drinks are offered to visitors who come to discover the hairdressing salon of Virginie and Sophie, two women very attached to eco-responsible values. “We focus on care, well-being and the environment. We work while minimizing our impact as much as possible,” announces Virginie, presenting her project to the latest arrivals of a busy day.
In the morning, a workshop was organized where participants were able to cut their own hair. “We had a good laugh, even the mayor got in on the fun,” smiles Virginie.
“My hairdresser” works almost exclusively with organic, ethical, responsible products and as much as possible in a short circuit. “Not everything is organic but we are 100% transparent,” concedes Virginie. The salon collects all of its clients’ cut hair to provide it to a waste recovery company. These scraps are woven into a kind of sausages which will be used to purify wastewater by absorbing hydrocarbons in particular. “I’m investing in the future,” adds Virginie.

“I’ve been coming here for a long time and I’m still learning things,” smiles a regular at the salon. The Business Discovery Day was even an opportunity for Thomas, Sophie’s husband and local resident, to set foot in the salon for the first time.
A day that will have delighted more than one.
