The Tapisco restaurant opened its doors to lovers of good cuisine on August 1, 2022. Since then, the small establishment located on the Grand-Place has been constantly full. It must be said that it offers a unique cuisine, still untapped in the City of Giants.
At the origin of the project, the well-known Timour Malengreaux, who devotes an unfailing love to Portugal, and Lisbon in particular. “It’s a country that I love“, explains the Athois. “I like to travel there; I like the atmosphere that reigns in this country, and especially its sunny cuisine. “When he acquired the building – a former hair salon – he knew he would turn it into a restaurant.”And I absolutely wanted to offer something different to the public. Portuguese cuisine appeared as a matter of course. “
To carry out his project and offer quality cuisine, Timour Malengreaux has surrounded himself with two chefs: Patrick and André, both from Portugal. From Thursday to Monday, the cooks offer Portuguese dishes, “revisited and updated“. “We do not offer traditional cuisine“, specifies Timour. “All our dishes are revisited, but they all echo Portugal.” The kitchen is completely open: the bar has a view of it. “In summer, we open the large bay window: customers seated on the terrace then have a bird’s eye view of the kitchen. Our chefs have nothing to hide from customers and even indulge in show cooking when the opportunity arises.“It will be understood, the atmosphere and conviviality of the Tapisco plunge customers into a journey to the heart of the cuisines of the sun.
“Typical products”
The restaurant menu is divided into three families: tapas – which can be eaten as a starter, or as a formula to share –, dishes and desserts. The products used are typical of Portugal. Examples include octopus, cod, grilled sardines, clams or chorizo…
For the wine pairing, these come immediately from Portugal. Thanks to a map drawn on the menu, customers can discover the wines of each region of the country.
Finally, the beers are delivered directly by the brewer, in CO2-free tanks (visible in the restaurant!), which offers more freshness to the drink and better digestion for its consumer.
The Tapisco, a trip to the heart of Portugal, to be discovered from Thursday to Monday, without interruption in the followingnoon.
