Nut still makes a good move. The distributor, specialist in clearance, has just bought the stocks for 22 stores Habitat, a furniture and decoration brand, was wound up last December.

In the coming days, 130,000 items will be offered to customers in around 310 Noz stores in France. Decorative items and furniture, the first to be sold, will be available at an unbeatable price. In fact, the stock trigger promises a 60% reduction compared to its original price.

It is not the first time that Noz has obtained the shares of companies in liquidation. At the end of March, the Mayenne company announced the sale of 170,000 pairs of Minelli shoes, in financial difficulties, at a reduced price. She also put up 141,000 pieces of furniture and decorative items for sale came from the Belgian warehouse Made.com, which went bankrupt in November. In 2022, the distributor bought back at auction two million pieces from the Camaïeu brand, put into compulsory liquidation.

Habitat is reborn on the Internet

On the 28th of December The Bobigny court had put Habitat into liquidation due to its severe financial difficulties, thus sealing the fate of the brand which employed 400 staff.

The brand, which had 25 stores in France, was founded in 1964 by the British designer Terence Conran (died in 2020), with the aim of offering furniture and decorative items at an affordable price.

But Habitat is not definitely dead. The furniture brand will now be relaunched online announced on Tuesday the Cafom group that had sold the operation of the brand in 2020 to the buyer Thierry Le Guenic, but remained the owner of the brand.

He will be tasked with “orchestrating the rebirth of the iconic Habitat brand”, with a new range of furniture.

Since habitat.fr should become a commercial site again within “four to five weeks”, indicated Hervé Giaoui, chairman of Cafom, promising the restoration of a “definitive site, with its complete range within around six months”.
