Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Colin Smith, CEO of World Cup Operations, revealed the number of tickets sold to attend the World Cup matches in Qatar, at the end of this year, during a press conference on Monday evening, on the occasion of a month left until the start of the biggest football event.
Colin Smith spoke to the media during the press conference, saying: “We have sold nearly 3 million tickets so far. We have a mix of fans, who are from the Arab region, from countries of the world, from the Americas and Europe, and there are still tickets available, and we encourage those who want to buy them to enter the sites, and we will make them available whenever possible.
The CEO of the World Cup operations indicated that the countries most popular with buying tickets are: Qatar, the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, England, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, France, Brazil and Germany.
During the press conference, it became clear that Japan is the first team to arrive in the Qatari capital, Doha, on November 7.
At the conference, a video clip was shown of the statements of Gianni Infantino, President of the International Football Association, in which he said: “Within a month of time, Qatar will host all the people from all over the world. I have said over and over once more that Qatar will present the best version of the World Cup, given the infrastructure This indicates that Qatar is ready to host this event.”
And Infantino continued: “Qatar promised and fulfilled through the organization, the next version will be the version of peace and union, everyone is welcome, regardless of their religious background and gender, whether male or female, we will gather together to celebrate this football festival.”
It is noteworthy that the World Cup will be held for the first time in an Arab country and in the Middle East, between November and December.
