Disclosure of 5 common causes of pancreatic cancer

Al-Marsad newspaper: Experts from the American Cancer Society announced that alcohol, smoking and diabetes can cause pancreatic cancer.

The Eat This, Not That website notes that experts from the American Cancer Society have identified five causes of pancreatic cancer.

genetic cause

According to them, the first reason is genetic, as according to the results of the study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, mutations in 6 genes can cause the disease, and these mutations can be detected even in people who do not have pancreatic cancer in their family.

alcohol abuse

The second reason is the negative effect of alcohol abuse, which first leads to pancreatitis. Therefore, the association’s experts do not advise women to consume more than one dose of alcohol per day, and men two doses. Because excessive alcohol intake can cause chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer as well over time.

obesity

Dr. Rakesh Jain points out that people who suffer from obesity are in the risk group, as it appeared that the largest section of people with pancreatic cancer and breast cancer are overweight or obese.

Having diabetes

And people with type 2 diabetes are also at risk of developing pancreatic cancer, as it appeared that 80% of those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer are people with type 2 diabetes.

smoking

Experts add, smoking is very harmful to the pancreas. Therefore, this bad habit is considered one of the most important risk factors for developing pancreatic cancer. According to them, regarding a quarter of cases of this type of cancer are caused by smoking.
