The Frenchman from Caen did not close the door to the end of his career in his latest album Civilisation. He had notably given a layer of it in the documentary “Don’t show this to anyone” of his brother Clément Cotentin. In particular, he explained word for word: “And then I stop rapping”.
A news that had made a lot of noise for the fans. In an interview offered to Spotify, the rapper wanted to qualify his remarks. “In fact, I would be surprised if I stopped”, he begins. However, he does not rule out putting himself much further back. “On the other hand, what is possible is that I don’t release an album like that. I will completely consider stopping Orelsan’s character, because it’s super heavy. It takes away your privacy. You set very high expectations. I have to question myself with each album. And because it simply takes a lot of time.”
He also returned to another sentence that had caused a lot of ink to flow. In his last album, he wrote: “I was all alone, there are thousands of us. Soon you will all forget me”. This sentence had been written during the genesis of the project. “I sincerely told myself that when you make music, you have people who follow you. You are cool’.” But it doesn’t last forever. “One moment, the public will follow someone else and you disappear. What is normal is life. In this sentence, it is the soon that was a bit pessimistic. It all depends on what meaning you give to ‘Soon’. What I mean is that at some point people are not going to listen to me and that’s fine with that.”
