Disappointed AaBer: – We owe our fans a full-blooded effort

FREDERICIA: It was a group of disappointed AaB players who had to face a large press following the 1-2 defeat to FC Fredericia and thus a missed chance to secure promotion to the Super League.

However, it was clear when Oliver Ross was asked to come up with an explanation as to why it turned into a defeat.

– Let’s start with the first half. We actually created okay chances. Earlier in the season we showed great cynicism regarding such possibilities, but today we did not show that cynicism. Then we also just have to say that it sucks that we let them have so many chances, says Oliver Ross.

At the beginning of the second half, Oliver Ross was reduced, but it was the one AaB goal, although there was a push for more in the following minutes.

– I myself had a feeling that now we should have two fast ones, but it didn’t work out that way. We conceded far too many chances once morest and it’s just not good enough. We were perhaps bad in our remaining defense and then we didn’t quite hang together as a team.

Most of all, he was sad that he had disappointed the many hundreds of AaB fans who had braved the odd match time and made the trip to Fredericia.

– We are sad regarding that performance, because it was a big carrot for us that we might move up in this match and give the traveling fans a party on the way home.

When Ross went out, Nicklas Helenius came in for the comeback and the first game minutes of the spring.

He only started training fully a few days ago, so it was a tired Helenius despite a substitution in the 80th minute.

– Today there was a maximum of a quarter of an hour in me. I lack fighting form, and to put it bluntly, I was dying too. My muscles ached a lot. I would like to admit that.

Of course, Helenius was happy to be back in action, but that was overshadowed by the performance and result.

– It doesn’t matter that much right now. It is more that we are absolutely not good enough. We have to take the spoon in the other hand, says Nicklas Helenius.

– It was great to be back, but it doesn’t matter much right now. Now we have a long period until the next game, and then we have to be ready at home once morest Hobro. There we also have a revenge to our credit.

Like Oliver Ross, he was most of all sad that the many AaB fans had made the trip in vain.

– We have to go home and look like an AaB team that owns Aalborg Portland Park, because if there is anyone who has owned the 1st division, it is our fans. We owe our fans a full-blooded effort. They have been the best AaB.
